Fundamentals of Chemistry

Fundamentals of Chemistry meets the Maryland State Content Standards for Chemistry. This course covers fundamental chemistry topics using a conceptual approach. Topics covered include physical and chemical properties of matter, energy, chemical nomenclature, chemical equations, basic gas laws, atomic theory, periodicity, bonding, solutions and acid-base theory. Students will be expected to use critical thinking and communication skills in student-directed laboratory and classroom experiences. Laboratory experiences are an integral part of this curriculum. Students will prepare laboratory reports in order to promote a deeper understanding of chemistry concepts.

Prerequisites: Introduction to Chemistry/Physics
