Chemistry, Advanced Placement (I and II)
Designed to be the equivalent of introductory college chemistry, students may earn college credit by examination. This course provides students with the conceptual framework, knowledge, and analytical skills necessary to deal critically with the science of chemistry. Both short and long term laboratory investigations are an integral part of the curriculum.
The Advanced Placement Chemistry topic outline includes: atomic theory, quantum mechanics, atomic and molecular structures, chemical bonding, kinetics, thermodynamics, equilibrium, solution chemistry, periodicity, and the laws for phases of matter.
Although both AP Chemistry I and AP Chemistry II must be taken to complete the course content necessary to properly prepare for the Advance Placement examination, AP Chemistry I may be taken without continuing through AP Chemistry II.
Prerequisite for AP Chemistry I: Chemistry I, Algebra II
Prerequisite for AP Chemistry II: AP Chemistry I
