Biology, Advanced Placement (I and II)
Designed to be the equivalent of introductory college biology, students may earn college credit by examination. This course provides students with te conceptual framework, knowledge, and analytical skills necessary deal critically with the science of biology. Both short and long term laboratory investigations are an integral part of the curriculum.
The AP Biology 1 course incorporates the first half of the Advanced Placement Biology outline. Topics include: cell structure and function, biochemistry, molecular genetics, heredity, and evolution.
The AP Biology 2 course completes the Advanced Placement Biology outline. Topics include: microbiology, botany, zoology, anatomy and physiology, and ecology. Independent or small group research activities are a requirement of the curriculum.
